The Ranger 17 is a traditionally styled launch based on a West Country fishing boat and is built in a traditional way, however, the use of modern GRP materials, gives the boat maximum strength and performance with the minimum of maintenance.
The boat has a strong, seaworthy hull, is ideal for estuaries or coastal cruising, not forgetting rivers and lakes, and could be used commercially as a harbour launch, hire boat, ferry etc. It also has the advantage of a highly economical inboard diesel engine with an impressive average consumption of less than 1 litre / hour.
Access to the diesel engine is by a hinged GRP box, making servicing of the engine very simple. The box also incorporates the steering throttle and engine control panel and is styled so that the front section can be used as a seat or table, therefore making best use of all available space.
The Ranger 17 is also fitted with a hardwood keel and bilge keels which means the boat can be kept on a drying out mooring, making it particularly suitable for tidal moorings.
